How It Works

Theatrical On Demand® via Gathr lets anyone bring Miss Representation: Rise Up to a real movie theater. You request the screening, your community reserves seats, and the show is confirmed once reservations cover the theater's Threshold. 6 steps.

01Step One

Request

On the film's Gathr page, select Host a Screening, then In Theatre and Theatrical On Demand®. Tell Gathr who you are (school, nonprofit, community group, business), and whether tickets are free or paid.

02Step Two

Pick A Theater

Enter your city or zip code. Automatic Booking theaters confirm instantly. Booking Request theaters review first. Don't see yours? Hit Contact Us and Gathr will reach out.

03Step Three

Set Date And Price

Once a theater is picked, the calendar opens. Choose a date that leaves time to sell tickets, then send the booking. Use the Ticket Price Calculator to see how many seats you need to cover your Threshold (the total screening cost).

Publish 04Step Four

Publish

Check your bookings on your dashboard. For Booking Request venues, add tickets once the theater confirms and your event goes live.

Share It 05Step Five

Share It

Post early and often. Reach your Threshold (total screening cost) in reservations before the deadline.

Screening FAQ

Quick answers before you request a theater.

What Does It Cost To Host A Screening?

Nothing up front. Every theatrical screening has a Threshold: the total screening cost, set by the theater. Sell tickets and the show happens once reservations cover it. Revenue beyond the Threshold is yours, and every screening supports The Representation Project, the nonprofit behind the film. You can also buy out the theater yourself and host the show for your guests. Community screenings outside a theater have a licensing fee. You'll see the prices when you book.

What Happens If Not Enough People Sign Up?

If reservations don't cover the Threshold by the deadline, the screening is cancelled at no cost to you. Nobody is charged and the reservations are released. You can request a new date and try again.

How Far Ahead Should I Request A Date?

Give yourself a few weeks to fill seats. Gathr will confirm which dates the theater has open once you send your request.

My Local Cinema Isn't On The Request Form. Can I Still Screen There?

Probably. Gathr can screen at most venues and can add new ones to its network. Email support@gathr.com with the cinema's name and location, and Gathr will reach out to them.

Can I Host A Screening Outside A Movie Theater?

Yes. Schools, campuses, nonprofits, and private events can book a community screening. There's a licensing fee, with a share going to The Representation Project, and the film team will send you pricing and get you set up. Host Your Own Community Screening.

How Many People Does It Take To Make A Screening Happen?

Each screening has a Threshold: the total screening cost, set by the theater. Reach it in reservations before the deadline and your screening is locked in. Your screening page shows the live count and how many more seats you need.

When Will My Card Be Charged?

Only once the host GreenLights the event. Reserving a ticket just holds the spot on your card. If the screening doesn't reach its Threshold, you're never charged.

How Long Until My Theater And Date Are Confirmed?

Usually a couple of days. Some theaters take longer, up to 3 weeks. Listing a backup theater or date with your request helps it go faster.

I Don't Want To Host. Can I Just See The Film?

Easy. Head to Theatrical Screenings to find a showing near you and grab a seat.

Find A Theatrical Screening

Can I Get A Refund?

No refunds. All ticket sales are final.

Who Do I Contact With Questions?
